Abbotsford acreage installs differ from urban setups in three operational ways.
Engineered stakes are the default
Stakes hold meaningfully better than ballasted weights on topsoil. On acreages with known underground irrigation, septic, or buried utilities we switch to ballast after confirming the site map. We don’t guess.
Wind ratings matter more than season
Sumas Mountain’s elevation and the open Fraser Valley both produce afternoon gusts that flat urban ground doesn’t. Sidewalls year-round are our recommendation for higher-elevation properties; the wind cuts the same direction in July as in October.
Pre-event site walk is part of the quote
For any acreage we haven’t delivered to, the backyard tent sizing playbook describes the measurements we ask for in advance. Slope tolerance, sprinkler clearance, alley access, and overhead utility lines are all part of the pre-quote checklist.
Per-item pricing
The same on a Sumas Mountain acreage as in any Abbotsford neighbourhood. Our 5ft round table is one rate, full stop. The line that changes is delivery — distance, slope, surface — never the per-item rate.
Tradex and Fraser Valley corporate events
Tradex Exhibition Centre is a different operational pattern than acreages. The venue runs its own loading-dock booking system and vendor sign-in protocols, both of which supersede ours — we book delivery slots through the events team during quoting, and our crew checks in at the dock instead of staging at the gate.
Most Tradex corporate setups skip the marquee entirely (the building’s interior is the venue) and run on banquet tables, cocktail highboys, bistro lighting for ambience, and a portable dance floor for evening events. Lead time is typically shorter than weddings — corporate clients usually have approved-vendor lists and faster procurement cycles, so 3–4 weeks is comfortable instead of the 6–8 we recommend for peak-season Saturdays.
A 100-guest Abbotsford acreage wedding rental order
For a 100-guest Abbotsford wedding on a Sumas Mountain acreage — a Saturday in August with ceremony on the lawn and reception under a single tent — a typical order looks like:
- 1 × 20×60 marquee tent with sidewalls (covered ceremony + reception in single footprint)
- 100 × white Chiavari chairs (ceremony rows, then re-staged at reception tables)
- 12 × 5ft round tables for the reception
- 6 × 6ft banquet tables (head, gift, cake, DJ, registration, bar)
- 1 × 12×16 portable dance floor
- 2 × cocktail highboys for the cocktail hour
- Bistro string lighting along the marquee ridge

Setup runs 5–6 hours with the larger crew acreage installs typically need; teardown is 3–4. Both quoted up front.
