North Shore wind plan — the install difference
A 20×40 marquee with sidewalls up — North Van installs default to enclosure year-round.
A North Vancouver marquee is structurally a Burnaby marquee with double the anchor weight and full sidewalls. The tent itself doesn’t change between cities. What changes is the install procedure.
Three specific things drive that:
- Mountain inflow gusts off Grouse, Seymour, and the Capilano watershed. The afternoon thermal pattern is reliable enough that we always plan for sidewalls up by 2pm, regardless of forecast.
- Saturated soil at lower elevations. Lynn Valley, Edgemont, and lower Capilano lots have meaningful soil saturation through most of the year. Stakes alone don’t hold. Engineered stakes paired with ballast is the default.
- Lions Gate Bridge schedule. Delivery windows have to align with bridge traffic. Weekday-morning installs avoid commute volume; weekend installs run before the late-morning visitor peak.
Lynn Valley acreage — the marquee calendar core
A single high-peak on a garden lawn, mountains behind.
Lynn Valley acreage weddings are the largest single share of our North Van marquee bookings. Most installs are 20×60 marquees on the lawn, engineered stakes paired with ballast, sidewalls year-round, bistro lighting along the ridge, and tent heater October–April.
Truck access is good on the main Lynn Valley arterials; the upper acreage streets occasionally need smaller-truck staging and we plan that during quoting. We measure overhead-branch clearance for the marquee placement during the pre-quote walk.
Deep Cove and waterfront
Deep Cove waterfront ceremonies run on doubled anchor strategy — engineered stakes paired with full ballast at every leg, sidewalls up at install, marquee sized one tier above the headcount requirement. Burrard Inlet wind patterns are consistent enough that “optional sidewalls” isn’t a category here.
Pier-adjacent and waterfront-home installs in Deep Cove typically run 20×40 to 20×60 marquees. The reception happens at the waterfront home or adjacent venue; the marquee covers the lawn portion.
Edgemont, Capilano, Upper Lonsdale — backyards
Standard residential backyard pattern adjusted for North Shore slope and saturation. Most Edgemont and Capilano lots accept a 20×40 comfortably; lots with significant slope cap at 20×30 unless the homeowner has graded a level platform.
Sprinkler infrastructure and irrigation runs get confirmed during quoting — Capilano’s older properties have unmapped irrigation that surprises if you skip the walk-through.
Lonsdale Quay, Shipyards, and corporate
Lonsdale Quay’s outdoor zones and Shipyards adjacent venues run on city event permits and corporate-venue coordination. 20×40 cocktail-hour marquees, 20×60 supplemental reception zones, and (occasionally) linked 20×40s for larger galas. Hardscape installs use full ballast every time.
Same-day swaps and bridge-aware add-ons
North Vancouver delivery from our warehouse runs 35–50 minutes via Lions Gate or Second Narrows depending on bridge volume. Mid-event swaps and short-notice add-ons during business hours typically arrive within 90 minutes — bridge timing is the variable, not warehouse capacity.
A 100-guest North Vancouver tent rental order
For a 100-guest North Van wedding — say a Saturday in August at a Lynn Valley acreage with ceremony and reception under a single marquee — a typical tent-side order looks like:
- 1 × 20×60 marquee tent (covered ceremony + reception in single footprint)
- 4 × tent sidewalls (full enclosure year-round on North Shore installs)
- 8 × bistro string-light strands across the marquee ridge
- 1 × tent heater (October–April default; recommended even on shoulder-season summer evenings)
- Engineered ground stakes paired with ballast at every leg (default for Lynn Valley saturated soil)
