What our West Vancouver dance floor lineup covers
A reception in motion under a West Van marquee.
Three floor sizes that cover almost every West Van wedding and corporate booking:
- 12×12 portable dance floor — 60–80 guests, smaller Caulfeild and Dundarave backyard receptions, intimate Ambleside venues
- 12×16 portable dance floor — the workhorse. 100-guest weddings, most British Properties estate setups, waterfront-condo rooftops. Pairs cleanly with a 20×60 marquee footprint.
- 16×20 portable dance floor — 150–200 guests, larger upper-bench British Properties estate receptions
- Subfloor panels — engineered platforms that level grass, terraced lawn, and irregular patio surfaces. The default install pattern for West Van outdoor receptions. Adds 90–120 minutes to setup; quoted separately.
- Edge ramps — included on every install where guests step from surrounding floor onto the dance floor. Trip-hazard safety, not aesthetic.
The floor goes down level. Heels don’t catch panel seams. We don’t ship a floor that bounces under load.
Where the install pattern changes

British Properties terraced lawns
Subfloor is mandatory. The terraced grade often means more subfloor underneath than dance floor on top — a 12×16 dance floor on a meaningfully terraced lawn might sit on a 14×18 subfloor footprint to ensure level coverage to the edge ramps. We measure grade during quoting and budget the panel count accordingly.
Ambleside and Dundarave waterfront grass
Subfloor on most installs. The boulevard and lawn-side seawall reception sites are flatter than British Properties but still irregular enough that the dance floor needs levelling. Salt-spray exposure means we tarp the panel staging area during longer setups.
Waterfront-condo rooftops
Level surface, no subfloor. Edge ramps only. Setup drops to 45–60 minutes for a 12×16. The constraint is freight-elevator capacity, not floor preparation.
Park Royal and indoor venues
Existing flooring, no subfloor, edge ramps only. Fast install, fast teardown.
Per-item pricing
The same in Caulfeild as on a Dundarave rooftop. Our 12×16 portable dance floor is one rate, full stop. The line that changes is delivery and subfloor — surface, freight elevator, terraced grade — never the per-floor rate.
Subfloor on terraced lawn — what the install actually involves
The default West Van outdoor install pattern is: arrive at low-tide or pre-event window, lay subfloor panels with grade compensation (more panel underneath where the lawn drops away), lock the dance floor on top of the levelled subfloor surface, and install edge ramps on all four sides. The added install time isn’t an upsell — it’s the only way to deliver a floor that holds together for 80–100 dancing guests at midnight on an irregular West Van lawn. We don’t quote a dance floor without subfloor for outdoor West Van bookings unless the surface is genuinely level (rooftop, paved patio, existing indoor floor). A 100-guest West Vancouver dance floor rental order
For a 100-guest West Van wedding under marquee on a British Properties estate lawn, a typical dance floor order looks like:
- 1 × 12×16 portable dance floor (the standard for 100 guests)
- Subfloor panels sized to the lawn grade (typically 14×18 footprint to ensure level coverage)
- Edge ramps on all four sides
- Crew install (120 minutes for floor + subfloor on a meaningfully terraced lawn)
For a Park Royal corporate or a Dundarave waterfront-condo rooftop reception with existing flooring, the same 12×16 ships without subfloor and the install drops to 45–60 minutes. For 60–80 guest Caulfeild backyards, swap to 12×12; for 150–200 guest upper-bench estates, 16×20 with full subfloor.
