Eastern Fraser Valley scale — what’s different about Chilliwack installs

A Chilliwack marquee is structurally identical to a Burnaby or Surrey marquee. What changes is install scheduling and anchor strategy:
- Day-before install for Saturday weddings. The 90-minute Highway 1 corridor means we can’t realistically install Saturday morning and clear Saturday afternoon. The marquee goes up Friday afternoon, anchored for overnight wind exposure, ready for chairs and tables Saturday.
- Open-valley wind tolerance. Eastern Fraser Valley afternoon thermal is stronger than the Vancouver-side average. Sidewalls year-round, marquee sized one tier above the headcount requirement on exposed acreage sites.
- Larger footprint by default. Most Chilliwack weddings are 100–200 guests rather than the 60–120 Lower Mainland average. 20×60 and 30×60 marquees are routine; 20×40 is the small end here.
Promontory, Rosedale, Hatzic Valley — Mount Cheam-view acreage
Mount Cheam-view acreage weddings drive the upscale Chilliwack marquee calendar. Most are 150–200 guest configurations with a 30×60 marquee on the lawn. Truck access on Eastern Fraser Valley rural roads is ample; the main install variable is the slope and the lawn condition at the specific acreage.
The standard install is a 30×60 marquee with sidewalls, engineered ground stakes, bistro string lighting along the ridge, tent heater October–April. Setup runs 6–7 hours for a 30×60; teardown is 4–5.
Cultus Lake shoreline
Cultus Lake shoreline ceremonies run on Provincial Park or municipal permit windows depending on zone. Stakes plus ballast for the lawn; full ballast on beach sand. Sidewalls year-round.
Most Cultus Lake ceremony marquees are smaller (20×30 to 20×40) — the reception flips to an adjacent acreage or indoor venue with the full reception marquee installed there.
Chilliwack Heritage Park
Heritage Park is one of the largest single-event venues in the Eastern Fraser Valley. Hardscape installs use full ballast; lawn-zone installs use stakes plus supplemental ballast. We’ve handled linked 20×40s and 30×60 marquees at Heritage Park for community events, corporate gatherings, and larger weddings.
Bridal Veil Falls and provincial-park ceremonies
Provincial-park ceremony zones run on permits with strict setback rules. Most accept 20×20 to 20×30 footprints. Resin Garden chairs paired with smaller ceremony marquees; the reception happens elsewhere.
Sardis, Vedder Crossing, Downtown Chilliwack — backyard and residential
Standard residential backyard pattern. Most Chilliwack lots are larger than the Lower Mainland average and accept a 20×60 comfortably. Downtown Chilliwack lots and the older Sardis residences cap at 20×40 where lot frontage is tight.
A 200-guest Chilliwack tent rental order
For a 200-guest Chilliwack wedding — say a Saturday in August at a Promontory acreage with Mount Cheam views, ceremony and reception under a single marquee — a typical tent-side order looks like:
- 1 × 30×60 marquee tent (covered ceremony + reception in single footprint)
- 6 × tent sidewalls (full enclosure for evening)
- 10 × bistro string-light strands across the marquee ridge
- 1 × tent heater (October–April bookings; optional in summer Fraser Valley evenings)
- Engineered ground stakes (default for acreage lawn; full ballast on Heritage Park hardscape)
