Boundary Bay wind plan — what’s different about Tsawwassen installs
A 20×60 marquee with sidewalls up — Tsawwassen installs default to enclosure year-round.
A Tsawwassen marquee is structurally identical to a Burnaby marquee with doubled anchor weight and full sidewalls — same template we use for West Vancouver waterfront and Deep Cove installs. The tent itself doesn’t change. What changes is install procedure.
Three specific patterns drive that:
- Southwest-facing peninsula exposure. Most Tsawwassen residences face Boundary Bay or the Strait of Georgia — and the afternoon onshore wind is consistent enough year-round that sidewalls aren’t optional. They go up Friday afternoon at install and stay up through teardown Sunday.
- Cliff-edge airflow at English Bluff. The English Bluff residences sit on top of the peninsula’s cliff edge with concentrated airflow patterns that lower-elevation Tsawwassen Shores residences don’t see. Doubled anchor strategy is the default.
- Ferry-terminal traffic scheduling. Highway 17 delivery aligns with ferry-loading windows. We schedule installs to avoid peak crossings, especially summer weekends.
English Bluff — cliff-edge residence installs
English Bluff’s cliff-edge residences host some of the most-photographed Lower Mainland wedding sightlines — ocean-and-island backdrops with mountain-edge framing. Most are 100–150 guest configurations with a 20×60 marquee on the residence lawn.
The cliff-edge wind plan is the operational anchor of every English Bluff install:
- Engineered stakes paired with concrete ballast at every leg.
- Sidewalls at install (not optional, not “if it rains”).
- Marquee oriented with the open side away from the prevailing wind line — we walk the lot during quoting to confirm.
Tsawwassen Shores and waterfront residential
Tsawwassen Shores’ newer waterfront residential streets accept standard delivery patterns with friendly truck access. Most Tsawwassen Shores weddings are 100–150 guests with a 20×60 marquee on the lawn.
The waterfront orientation still calls for stakes-plus-ballast at the bay-facing corners and sidewalls year-round — the airflow is gentler than English Bluff but still consistent enough that “optional sidewalls” isn’t a category.
Beach Grove and ferry-terminal-adjacent acreage
Beach Grove’s shoreline-adjacent residences and the ferry-terminal-adjacent peninsula acreage lots host the larger Tsawwassen weddings (150–200 guests). 30×60 marquees on the acreage lawns are routine; truck access is rural-road and ample.
Tsawwassen Village heritage and restaurant
Tsawwassen Village heritage venues and restaurant lawns occasionally book supplemental marquees for outdoor cocktail-hour cover. 20×20 to 20×40 footprints; Village-street truck access is tighter than the residential edges and we use shorter delivery windows.
A 150-guest Tsawwassen tent rental order
For a 150-guest Tsawwassen wedding — say a Saturday in August with ceremony on Centennial Beach (chairs only, no marquee) followed by an English Bluff residence reception under marquee — a typical tent-side order looks like:
- 1 × 20×60 marquee tent at the English Bluff reception venue (Centennial Beach ceremony is chairs-only)
- 4 × tent sidewalls (full enclosure year-round on Tsawwassen installs)
- 8 × bistro string-light strands across the marquee ridge
- 1 × tent heater (October–April default; recommended even on summer Tsawwassen evenings given the onshore breeze)
- Engineered ground stakes paired with concrete ballast at every leg (default for English Bluff cliff-edge installs)
Setup runs 5–6 hours for a 20×60 + sidewall + doubled-anchor configuration; teardown is 3–4 hours. Both quoted up front. The 50/100/150/200 rental checklist maps the marquee sizing to your headcount. Tsawwassen weddings rarely book the marquee alone — chairs (Resin Garden for the beach ceremony, Chiavari for the reception), tables, dance floor, and lighting all ship on the same Highway 17 delivery, off our all Tsawwassen rental categories.
